It’s time for Tezaab 2

Keeping to the industry motto of milking a good thing to the last drop, director/producer N. Chandra is about to start Tezaab 2 “at least to bring the title to the limelight once again”. The original Tezaab was a superhit with Anil Kapoor and Madhuri Dixit in the lead roles. Sources reveal that Chandra is set to take the film, which will have a huge '15-crore budget, to the floors by mid-May.

Chandra confirms to DC, “We have kept Tezaab 2 as a working title. We have finalised the lead pair and I can only tell you that both are from Delhi. We auditioned and finalised the lead pair as they fit our characters. Other cast and credits are yet to be finalised.” He, however, adds, “Tezaab 2 is not a remake of Tezaab. Though this film too will have action, romance and drama like the original film.”

On comparisons with Madhuri Dixit – whose dance number on the hit song Ek, Do, Teen… is still a rage after decades – and the female lead of the new film, he says, “Comparison of the female lead to Madhuri Dixit is inevitable. But the audience will be the best judge after the film releases.” “Three music directors and composers are in the process of being finalised. The songs have not been recorded yet,” he adds. Tezaab was released in 1988 and had been Madhuri Dixit’s springboard to superstardom.
