‘All moms are super moms’ says Kajol
Mumbai: Kajol, one of the few contemporary leading ladies of Bollywood who gave up their careers to become a full-time mother, says that her present role is much, much tougher than anything she has ever portrayed on celluloid.
“When I return from somewhere and my kids come running and hug me and say ‘Mom we missed you, where were you?’ that makes me feel like a super mom. Kids look up to their moms while they are growing up. I consider all mothers to be super moms. They’re a combination of Superman, Batman, Brahma, Mahesh and Shiva.”
Things are, of course, very different from when she was a kid. “As a kid I would always look up to my mom for advice and ask for her approval before doing anything. My mom was very liberal. But at the same time she would keep a watch on us. I idolise her. She would not be bothered about small things like, ‘hey bhagwan meri ladki ne chotey kapde pehne hai, log kya bolenge?’ But the values she inculcated in us was something she always expected us to follow. I still crave for her approval.”
“When we were kids, our moms would tell us to go out and play. We did not have much television and other technical stuff then unlike today’s kids who are hooked on to TV shows and computers. Now-a-days children watch movies at home and rarely go to the theaters.”
Like most mothers, Kajol too ends up watching more kids’ channels. “I have no time to watch any adult shows on TV. I am busy watching Pogo and other kids’ shows along with my children at home,” says Kajol, who is also open to doing TV shows.
About her production house plans, she says, “We did announce six months ago that we were working on films. Once everything is finalised we shall announce it.”
