Main GoldQuest money scam accused arrested
Hyderabad: The sleuths of the Crime Investigation Department arrested R. Ramesh Babu, the key accused in the GoldQuest Scheme case. On the night of May 14, the accused was arrested by the Immigration authorities at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, Shamshabad. He was taken into custody by the CID and produced before the magistrate.
According to CID additional DG T. Krishna Prasad, Ramesh Babu is involved in a cheating case lodged at the Kavali II Town police station in Nellore district. “Several people of Kavali Town were lured by local promoters of the GoldQuest Scheme run by Questnet Enterprises. Many joined the GoldQuest Scheme by paying Rs 33,000 and Rs 66,000 respectively. But the accused did not repay the money and cheated people,” said Mr Krishna Prasad.
Ramesh Babu, the prime accused, had been absconding ever since an FIR was lodged. A lookout circular was issued on recommendation of CID’s economic offences wing. In another case, the CID arrested one Swaminathan Sivanandan, an accused in a dowry harassment case registered with Pet Basheerabad police station. A lookout circular was issued against him while a trial court also issued an arrest warrant. He was said to be hiding in Doha, Qatar, to evade arrest. He was arrested in Chennai by immigration authorities and handed over to Cyberabad police by the CID.
