YSRC: Over confidence caused loss

Leadership has started post-mortem to find out reasons for the defeat

Hyderabad: The YSRC leadership has started a post-mortem to find out reasons for the party’s defeat in the Assembly elections.

The YSRC brass said the main reason for the defeat was “over confidence.” The TD’s promise to waive farm loans made the difference. Most YSRC candidates were over confident of winning, and did not spent money as “required”. After winning 15 Assembly seats in the byelections the leadership and second rung leaders did not concentrate on strengthening the party at the grassroots.

YSRC president Jagan is busy reviewing seat-wise Assembly results to know what went wrong.

According to sources when YSRC honorary president Y.S. Vijayalakshmi went for campaign in local body elections in East and West Godavari districts she had noticed some lapses. Later, the party took some decisions to overcome the lapses but that did not give any results. Senior leaders said the assurances in the YSRC manifesto did not attract people.

A senior leader said the Raghu Rama Raju episode kept Kshatriyas away from the party in coastal districts. Raghu Rama Raju had suddenly resigned from the party and made wild allegations against Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy.

Although the Kapu community was given a good number of tickets they went with TD.
