Parineeti told me bachke rehna, says Zeeshan Janbaz
Mumbai: Parineeti Chopra and Aditya Roy Kapur’s upcoming film Daawat-e-Ishq, directed by Habib Faisal, was shot mostly in Hyderabad. And as Parineeti plays a Hyderabadi girl, she had to learn the local slang.
Assistant director Zeeshan Janbaz, who taught her the patois during shooting, says that Parineeti is a quick learner and easy to work with as an actress. “She is a happy-go-lucky and bindaas girl.
“I just had to say the dialogue once in the Hyderabadi slang and she would grasp it and modulate her voice accordingly,” says Zeeshan.
He adds, “Words like hojayega were changed to hojaainga, itna to itnaich, kaiko to kaiku and others. Habib Faisal had instructed me to only talk in Hyderabadi Urdu with the cast and crew as that would help everyone get a better grasp over the language.”
Recollecting his first meeting he says, “When Habib Faisal introduced me to Parineeti, she promptly said ‘bachke rehna’. I was shocked and tensed. I felt that I was going to face a tough time handling her. But as the days passed, my perception changed and I realised that she is the nicest person I have met.”
Zeeshan was the only Hyderabadi in the direction team who also had the opportunity to share screen space with the actors in three scenes.
He says, “I am playing the role of a Hyderabadi loafer in the movie. One of the scenes is with Aditya Roy Kapur. The cast and crew became like family and we bonded really well. On the sets we used to enjoy Hyderabadi biryani regularly. Parineeti was also a big fan of a local chain of restaurant that serves South Indian food.”
Zeeshan has also done casting for Hyderabadi actors in the film.
