Hyderabad: Chief Minister-designate N. Chandrababu Naidu has decided not to shift the Seemandhra Secretariat to the MCR HRD Buildings in Jubilee Hills.
This was conveyed by Mr Naidu to a delegation of heads of department led by chief secretary P.K. Mohanty that called on him on Thursday.
Mr Naidu also told them that he was not interested in having his camp office in the palatial Lake View guesthouse that had been earmarked by the Governor for the Seemandhra CM. He informed them that he would run his camp office from his Jubilee Hills residence, as he had when he was the CM nine years back.
Mr Naidu was planning to shift the Seemandhra Secretariat to the Marri Channa Reddy Human Resources Development building in Jubilee Hills with a view to functioning from an independent locality instead of sharing the Secretariat buildings with the Telangana government.
However, when the AP NGO Associations brought to his notice the logistical problems involved in shifting out of the Secretariat, he changed his mind and decided to work out of the premises.
The high-level delegation gave Mr Naidu a PowerPoint presentation on the details of state bifurcation, division of power, funds, offices, taxes, finances and other issues.
The delegation called on him and the Telangana CM-designate K. Chandrasekhar Rao, on the directions of Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan.
However, the delegation could complete only half of their presentation on Thursday and will meet Mr Naidu again on Friday.
Mr Naidu reportedly told the officials that when he was Chief Minister earlier, he saw the administration work with more accountability and sincerity, which was lacking during the 10-year Congress regime.
He also asked the officials to prepare a memorandum seeking special powers and funds for the Seemandhra government to compensate for the deficit finances that the state would face on account of bifurcation, so that he could present it to Prime Minister-designate Narendra Modi during his proposed visit to Delhi on May 24.
