Engineering her way to films
Kochi: Janany Maria Antony, a model who is known for her pretty face, statuesque figure and and oodles of energy, is planning to sashay from the ramp to the silver screen.
She had played a supporting role in Albert Antoni’s Vaadamalli and describes it as ‘a dream come true’. The actress is hoping this will be the first of many movie roles. “I enjoy acting,” she says.
Her role as Diya a trusted friend of the heroine in Vaadamalli was appreciated by the Malayalis. “I was a bit nervous about being in front of the arc lights. But thankfully it helped me get the role as Suraj’s sister in Senior Unnikrishnan.”
Janany was smitten by the film bug while acting in a music video album Nilav directed by Titto Varghese. “I was under the impression that acting was a tough task but Nilav helped me discover the actress in me. I was also a part of Love in Monsoon directed by Mirage Dichu,” she explains.
A district level Kalathilakam, Janany was one of the finalists of a TV reality show which was also a hunt for a leading lady for Lal Jose’s film.
“I was in the 12th then. Despite getting selected I could not go because of my exams, following which I joined engineering in Pondicherry. I would like to balance acting and studies, so sometimes I may have to refuse some offers.”
Now, in the third year of graduation, she has decided to take a serious stance about acting. “I want to be a part of good films,” she says.
