No place for L K Advani, Murli Manohar Joshi in ‘young look’ Cabinet

New Delhi: Has the sun finally set on the BJP old guard as the party witnesses the dawn of a new era? BJP old hawk L.K. Advani, who once used to call the shots in the organisation, has been kept out of the Narendra Modi-led NDA government. So was Murli Manohar Joshi, who was hoping to get a portfolio in the Modi Cabinet and had even met RSS top brass in Nagpur apparently in this regard. Both Mr Advani and Dr Joshi attended Mr Modi’s oath-taking ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhawan on Monday.

However, it is yet to be seen whether Mr Advani is made NDA chairman or Dr Joshi gets the Lok Sabha Speaker’s post according to speculations. A section within the BJP was also not in favour of a senior leader like Mr Advani, working under Mr Modi. Mr Advani, it was learnt, was also not in favour of this.
