Hyderabad: The latest buzz in Bollywood is that filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt is planning a biopic on Saina Nehwal and that he is planning to rope in Deepika Padukone to portray the badminton ace.
Bhatt told DC, “The talks are on and it’s very early to discuss the movie. I can only reveal that this idea was brought to me by my friend in Delhi and I expressed desire (to make the film). Saina has made India proud with her achievements and I’m sure making a film on her, will be definitely an inspiration for others.”
Bhatt however, has never met Saina. “But I have heard so much about her and that passion she has for the game is commendable. Also, as a filmmaker, I’m definitely inspired by sportspersons,” the director added. Saina too seems excited.
At an event in Mumbai, the champ said Deepika Padukone will be 'perfect' for the reel version of Saina Nehwal. True, because Deepika too comes from a badminton legacy.
After the success of Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, looks like Bollywood are favouring biopics, from Priyanka Chopra’s Mary Kom or a film on Saina Nehwal.
