Etela Rajendar blames media for ‘misquote’

Hyderabad: Finance minister Etela Rajendar on Thursday took a ‘u-turn’ on “conditional” farm loan waiver scheme and blamed media for “misquoting” him.

After protests sparked off at a various places, at a hurriedly convened press conference at Secretariat he said, “TRS government is committed to waive off farm loans. We are in the process of seeking a report from bankers over the amount required to waive off the loans. It is expected by Monday. No decision has been taken on imposing any condition. Media has blown the issue out of proportion.”
