Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, who showered praises on Medak collector Smita Sabharwal in a public meeting at Gajwel on Wednesday by calling her an “efficient officer”, appointed her as the additional secretary in the Chief Minister’s Office with immediate effect.
The orders to this effect were issued on Thursday.
Mr Rao had said, “Medak people are lucky to have such an efficient collector who has been striving hard for the development of the district ever since she took charge in October 2013.”
Ms Sabharwal had been making news as Medak collector with her initiative to increase the polling turnout during recent general elections.
She was also in the news for felicitating family members of T martyrs on June 2. She was unable to hold her tears back when families remembered the martyrs.
