Young actors solicit filmmaker Bala’s support
Chennai: Although ace filmmaker Bala has the image of a ‘tough task master’ and one who does not discuss the script even with his lead cast, it looks like young actors are vying to appear in his films. This was apparent at the audio launch of the Vijay Antony starrer, Salim that took place recently in the city.
While the film is directed by Nirmal Kumar, a host of K’town celebrities, including the former’s mentor, Bharathy Raja, Bala, Jayam Ravi with brother Raja, Shaam, Manoj and Parthiban graced the occasion.
Shaam said that he had wanted to be a part of Bala’s film and had sought ‘a chance’. Similarly, Jayam Raja put in an application for his bro Ravi to Bala. The ace filmmaker asserted that he chose actors who were willing to put in their 200 per cent, not whether they were big or small.
“I saw Shaam’s commitment in his recent film, 6 Candles. And I was also impressed with Jayam Ravi’s diligence in Nimirndhu Nil. I will make use of their talents at an appropriate time,” he said.
Bharathy Raja, pointing to Vijay Antony, said in lighter vein, “Why don’t you also extend your request?” The film’s female lead, Aksha Pardasany, was also present.
