Andhra Pradesh official is Vice Chancellor of Telangana University
Hyderabad: A unique situation has arisen in some Telangana universities, highlighting the hurried manner in which IAS officers were provisionally posted to Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
At least one official of the education department who had been posted as in-charge Vice Chancellor a Telangana university has been allotted to the Andhra Pradesh government
The case is related to the Mahatma Gandhi University. Ms K Sunitha, former commissioner of collegiate education of the undivided state, was posted as incharge Vice Chancellor of MG University. But, after the split, she was allotted to Andhra Pradesh without being relieved from the university post. She was also made in charge of another university in the state.
A senior official of the State Council of Higher Education (SCHE), said, “Our work with the MG University has been stalled for more than a week now because there is no VC to sign files there. She has been assigned to the Andhra Pradesh government but neither has she been relieved nor has she requested to be relieved.”
The Chief Secretary has to take a decision on the relieving a particular officer of his or her duties.
Another official in the higher education department said, “This has been a really bad handling of affairs. Bifurcation was handled very well in case of Bihar and Uttar Pradesh because that was not for seats.”
