Telugu cinema actor Telangana Shakuntala dies at 63
Hyderabad: One of Telugu Cinema’s most popular character artists, Telangana Shakuntala is no more. On Thursday night, she suffered a cardiac arrest and was immediately rushed to hospital. But she was declared dead on arrival and is survived by a son and a daughter.
Shakuntala, who made her cinematic debut in 1981 Telugu film “Maa Bhoomi”, has acted over 74 films. She was a Maharashtrian and got recognition in popularising the language she acted in, in both comic and negative roles.
The few films that define her career are ‘Aha Naa Pellanta’, ‘Gulabi’, ‘Bhadrachalam’, ‘Nuvvu Nenu’ and ‘Bendu Apparao RMP’. For public to pay their last respects, Shakuntal’s body will be at AP Film Chamber of Commerce. The last rites will be performed later in the day.
