‘Pakistanis love Indian shows’

New channel ‘Zindagi’ is being launched which will air shows from across the borders

Pakistani heartthrob Imran Abbas is delighted about the launch of new channel ‘Zindagi’ that will air shows from across the borders. The actor will feature in a drama called Mera Naseeb .

“Through this channel, Indian viewers will see the side of Pakistan that they don’t normally get to see. The way the media projects Pakistan, people think only bad things happen in the country. People think that girls in Pakistan only wear salwar kameez and that men wear safa all the time. That’s not true.”

The shows on Zindagi are top-rated in Pakistan and have been handpicked for the Indian audiences.

About his association, Imran says, “I am the first Pakistani actor representing the fraternity here. Pakistanis love Indian actors and shows. We know the details of all their family members as well.” The actor assures us that the Urdu used in the shows will be easily understood by Indians. “The culture and language is quite similar in both the countries — just that Pakistan has an Islamic government and that culture will reflect in the shows.”

Speaking about the differences between Indian and Pakistani soaps the actor says, “Most of the popular shows in Pakistan are made in India. These include Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa, Nach Baliye and Dance India Dance. Also, in India there are good directors and technicians, but in Pakistan we have good writers and actors.”

Imran has also been offered Bollywood films and has a major release coming up soon.

“My first B’wood film Creature 3D with Bipasha Basu will release soon. I have also been offered films by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Rajkumar Santoshi and Mohit Suri in the past, but since I was bound by contract at the time, I couldn’t take up any of those.”
