After a gap of five years, Gauri Pradhan Tejwani is all set for a comeback with Ekta Kapoor’s soap Meri Aashiqui Tum Se Hi. “Currently I have a lot of mixed feelings. Since I am coming back after a long gap, I thought I would be nervous to face the camera but I was wrong. In fact, I was confident,” says Gauri. It is usually said that once an actress plays a mother’s role it becomes difficult to bag a main character’s role. Talking about that and how she felt playing a mother, Gauri says, “Over the years, I have played varied roles, that of a girl, a bahu and now it’s time to explore this one. I really didn’t feel odd because for an actor an impactful role is more important than anything else.”
It is also often seen that TV stars are forgotten once their show goes off air. Gauri agrees and adds, “Now a days, everyone wants to be an actor and is keen to have fame and money. When I joined, the scenario was not the same. I have been in the industry for over 10 years. Thankfully, my fans still love and admire me.”
Talking about the connection on and off-screen, as she is the mother of twins in real life, she says, “I have become a mother on the sets as well as off screen. The motherly thing has got in me in a big way (laughs). The only difference is that in real life my kids are much younger than my onscreen ones.”
Gauri had taken a break from acting to raise her twins and it looks like she is doing a great job. “I don’t allow my kids to watch television at all because their concentration span goes down. I have shown them a TV show only once, and that too for them to know what their dad does. I had taken them to the sets once. Now I will do the same for myself, this is to ensure that the kids are aware of what their parents do.”“Also they are kept away from all gadgets. I sit at home and entertain them by reading books and playing sports, which involve a lot of physical activity. It’s not easy to entertain kids the whole day. You won’t believe it, but Hiten calls me Hitler mother (laughs), but I am OK with the tag because I know I am doing all this for their betterment.”
