Where is the king of rap Baba Sehgal?
Mumbai: Baba Sehgal, the man who started rapping sensation in the country has been missing from the lime light for long now. People who were born in the 90’s may feel nostalgic after reminiscing his songs.
Remember those nasty rough raps you heard on the radio or played on cassettes? Baba was the face behind that music. We all have had our fair share of foot tapping even dancing our hearts out with siblings on his songs.
Some songs just give you that nostalgic feeling and aaja meri gaadi me baith jaa is one such. No matter how loose its lyrics were, we found ourselves going all Salman Khan steps over it (yes, oh oh jaane jaana!).
But where has he disappeared? We haven’t seen him once EDM hit the stalls or when western music flooded Indian markets. Well he has been singing down South. He regularly sings playback in Telugu films, notably for 2012's Gabbar Singh starring Pawan Kalyan. He also composed a tribute song for the southern actor called Pawa Pawa Pawan Kalyan. In 2009 he was one of the performers on the NDTV Imagine show Dhoom Macha De. He has also featured on the Imagine Showbiz series Baba's Cross Connection. He recently gave his voice for a song in Bengali film. Very few of us know that he also appeared in a Bolywood flick, Miss 420.
You can download his songs from itunes and mp3skull.
