Meet Railway Minister Sadananda Gowda’s brother, a station master in Karnataka

‘I hope that Indian railways are made accident-free and safe’

Mangalore: As India's Railway Minister Sadananda Gowda presents his maiden budget in the Parliament, his younger brother DV Suresh Gowda, who is a railway station master in Karnataka hopes for a passenger-friendly budget

Suresh Gowda is posted at Nandikoor near Mangalore and is confident of a good budget by his elder brother. He was appointed as the assistant station master of Hubli in 1985 and was deputed to the Konkan Railways in 2008.

As the country keenly watches Modi government’s crucial budget, Gowda’s brother says he does not have any suggestions to offer to his brother.

A humble Suresh wants his elder brother to improve the railway nexus across the country, especially Dakshin Kannada region. He also hopes that Indian railways are made accident-free and safe.

Gowda will present Narendra Modi government’s first Railway Budget in a couple of hours amid high expectations of improved railway services.

The Rail Minister, however, indicated that bullet trains and semi-high speed trains are in the pipeline. Gowda said, " (High speed trains) are not possible within a year or two but we should look into that direction. The budget will focus on amenities for commuters and it will benefit India in the long run.”

Gowda had already said that after assuming charge he would focus on safety, security and speed.

Modi's Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which took office in May after scoring a landslide election win, has also said it favours a greater role for private business in building other infrastructure such as roads and ports.
