Nail sutra to keep your nails beautiful

If your outfit isn’t all that great, paint your nails a little funky, says Sneha Dua

Hyderabad: With the FIFA fever reaching a crescendo, many Hyderabadis are expressing their love for their favourite teams through nail art. And football is only one aspect of people wearing their emotions on nails.

Nail art has moved on from flowers, polka dots and stripes and many are flaunting shoelaces, faces, candies, ice creams, sunglasses, comic characters and cricket and football teams.

For example, IT professional Sneha Dua likes to match her nail paint with the shirt she is wearing. So, if its Smurfs, Angry Bird or a Pink Panther on her Tee, you will find it on her nails too.

Since she likes painting, she paints her own nails. And, after getting several requests from her friends, she has launched a Facebook page, SnehArt.

Sneha says, “We take so much effort to match our Tees and denims, so why not nails? In fact, if your outfit isn’t all that great, paint your nails a little funky and that’s about it.”

Fashion designer Sue Ellen says, “It’s a great and convenient form of self-expression,” and that’s why it is here to stay. Moreover, it’s affordable — cost Rs 500 to Rs 1,000 for all fingers and Rs 80 to Rs 100 for a single nail.

Kashish Harjani of Juice salon, Banjara Hills says, “Young girls see funky designs on the Internet and ask us to paint them, while housewives come when there is a festival or wedding in their families. They like to get stones done, especially which come in all colours – gold, silver, black etc. They usually like to get flowers done around these stones.”
