Amit Shah asks party leaders to go all out to defend Centre
New Delhi: New BJP president Amit Shah, considered a master strategist after ensuring an unprecedented sweep for the party in Uttar Pradesh in the recent Lok Sabha elections, on Friday directed its office-bearers and spokespersons to ensure that they “defend the government” strongly.
Mr Shah met the spokespersons and media cell members of the party on Friday.
Following Mr Shah’s directive, party members who were once vehemently opposed to FDI in insurance, to cite one example, have no choice but to change tack. Mr Shah, it is learnt, will effect a major reshuffle in the party ranks as most of the BJP’s spokespersons like Nirmala Sitharaman, Ravi Shankar Prasad, Prakash Javadekar as well as senior office-bearers like Uma Bharti and Smriti Irani have become ministers.
Mr Shah told the leaders they should ensure that the party was not perceived as taking a line contrary to that of the Centre. He also, told them to study any topic carefully before they speak on it.
