China’s Apple to enter Indian turf
New Delhi: In what will make competition in mobile handsets more fierce, famous Chinese handset maker Xiaomi on Tuesday announced its entry into India.
Xiaomi, which is often referred to as ‘Apple of China’, is known for its high-end and low-priced devices. The four year old start-up has developed into a serious challenger of iPhone in China by offering high quality products, which are light on pocket.
Now the company is looking to expand its strategy to developing countries including India, Brazil, and Russia.
Beijing-based company has launched its popular Mi3 in India which will be sold through e-commerce portal Flipkart. The mobile phone costs Rs 13,999 and it is available for pre-registration on Flipkart. The product will hit the market from July 22.
Xiaomi claimed that Mi3 offer features, which are found in those phones in the market which cost many times the price offered by it.
In addition, Xiaomi has announced it will also launch Redmi 1S for Rs 6,999 and Redmi Note for Rs 9,999 over the next few weeks. Xiaomi plans to start selling phones on its own website in the near future as well.
Xiaomi which has seen a 271 percent growth in its handsets sale in the first six months of 2014, said that it will be developing products particularly targeted towards Indian consumer.
