North East man beaten to death in Delhi
New Delhi: A 29-year-old man from Manipur was allegedly beaten to death by five men following an argument in South Delhi’s Kotla Mubarakpur area late on Sunday night.
The incident comes some six months after Arunachal student Nido Tania was beaten to death in Lajpat Nagar, triggering a furore over the treatment of the people of Northeast origin in the capital.
Three men, identified as Sanjay Basoya, 24, Shakti Basoya, 21, and Rajiv, alias Bittu, 25, were arrested on Mon-day while search for oth-er two assailants, who are absconding, is on.
According to sources, the incident took place when the victim, Akha Salouni, along with his two friends, reached Kotla Mubarakpur at about 2 am after a party.
“When they reached Gurudwara road, a car arrived on the spot. Five to six men alighted from the car and thrashed Salouni. A PCR call was made at about 3:30 am following which he was rushed to the AIIMS tra-uma centre where docto-rs declared him brought dead,” police said.
