Rs 10,000 prize for finding missing sheep in Karnataka
The sheep had become a symbol of religious harmony
Hubli: This is nothing sheepish to feel about. People in the tiny hamlet of Negalur in Haveri taluk of Karnataka have offered prize money of Rs 10,000 to anyone who can get their beloved missing sheep back! This is no ordinary sheep for the villagers who worship it with utmost devotion and treat it as God incarnate.
A man had devoted the sheep to a mosque situated in the village more than a decade ago. The sheep had become a symbol of religious harmony since then and used to visit every household and temples. It also used to attend funerals of the deceased in the village.
The villagers have also lodged a complaint at the nearby Guttal police station after their week-long search operation for the sheep proved futile. Anxiety has gripped the villagers who believe that the incident is a bad omen and could spell doom for them. People feel the village has prospered ever since the sheep arrived.
