Andhra Pradesh cops tough on land grabs in ‘capital’ zone

Hyderabad: Land scams in the proposed capital region of Vijayawada, Guntur and Krishna would come under the scanner of the Andhra Pradesh police administration. The home department does not want a repeat of Hyderabad, where with increasing real estate prices, land irregularities have gone up.

Home minister Nimmakayala Chinarajappa said, “We will be cracking the whip on land grabbers and those, who are into private land settlements. As in Hyderabad the new capital may face double registrations, land encroachments and disputes etc.”

Meanwhile, Mr Chinarajappa said that it is not possible to declare a weekly off to the police right now considering the law and order situation of the state, as there is a staff crunch.
