‘It was difficult for me to perform for this role’

Hyderabad: With his Bollywood film Jackpot opposite Sunny Leone not doing well at the box-office, actor Sachiin Joshi hopes for better performance of his upcoming Telugu film Nee Jathaga Nenundali, the remake of the Bollywood hit Aashiqui 2.

Sachiin says that he feels lucky to be part of the Telugu remake and that he is confident that the film will the beginning of his new innings in Tollywood. “Aashiqui 2 was the musical blockbuster of 2013, and I feel lucky to be a part of this movie and play the lead. The response to the music and the trailer has been overwhelming and I am looking forward to the release of the movie now.”

While the trailer of the film was released almost a month back, it received mixed reviews from the audience. Talking about the same, Sachiin says, “The original movie has left a certain mark in the minds of the people, but not many in South have watched the movie. Nee Jathaga Nenundali focuses more on the audience in the South.”

After the recent debacle of his Bollywood film Jackpot, does he think that Nee Jathaga Nenundali will give a boost to his career? “I don’t think that my career sank in the first place. Nee Jathaga Nenundali is a totally different film with a different concept, story and genre. There is no comparison between the two,” he says, adding, “I have given my 100 per cent to this movie and have been appreciated after the trailer launch as well. I myself feel I have evolved and grown as an actor during and post this film since there was a lot of learning involved.”

Having played the part of Aditya Roy Kapur in the Telugu remake, Sachiin says, “It was difficult for me to perform for this role, since it required a lot of practice for me to do the exact lip sync. The music is the soul of the film and hence I had to be very particular while performing those scenes. Also my character is that of an alcoholic in the movie. He goes through so many emotions of happiness, sadness, anger etc., and I had to emote all of them with the same conviction. Aditya Roy Kapur has done a commendable job in the movie, but I did not want to copy him. I have done it in my own way.”

Sachiin was last seen in Tollywood in the 2005 movie Orey Pandu and the actor feels that the gap was worth the wait. “It didn’t take me long to come back to Tollywood. I was waiting for the right script to come along and Nee Jathaga Nenundali fit the bill,” he says.

When asked about his future projects, Sachiin says, “Just wait and watch.”
