First time Congressman displays ignorance about members of his government

Washington: In a strange incident, a first-time Congressman mistook two persons of Indian origin serving in the Obama administration to be Indians.
Curt Clawson should have known better: He is a frequent visitor to India and has partnership firms in Pune.
But when he saw senior US officials Nisha Biswal and Arun Kumar at a foreign affairs committee meeting, he assumed they were members of the Indian government.
He just did not pay attention when the two were introduced (Biswal works for the state department and Kumar in commerce), or check the factsheet,
He just told them: “I’m familiar with your country; I love your country. Anything I can do to make the relationship with India better, I’m willing and enthusiastic about doing so.”
