Will save Rs 3,000 crore: Telangana to Supreme Court
Telangana gov says that no state bears the fees of students of other state
Hyderabad: The Telangana affidavit cleared by Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao and to be presented in the Supreme Court, states that students from 27 states take admissions in Hyderabad and if financial assistance is extended to students from Andhra Pradesh, it will lead to similar demands from other states and may end in legal tangles.
The Telangana government will also submit before the Supreme Court that no state in the country bears the fees of students of other states and since this is a welfare scheme offered by the Telangana government, it has every right to decide who is eligible and who is not.
The government will bring to the notice of Supreme Court that being a new state, it has severe financial constraints and by extending financial assistance to only locals, it could save around Rs 3,000 crore, which can be utilised for other welfare schemes.
