iDiya for social change
The iDiya Challenge was launched in ISB Hyderabad recently
Hyderabad: Good things take time; great things take time and fortitude. It’s with this motto that the students of ISB Hyderabad continue the initiative that was first flagged off in 2009, ISB iDiya Challenge, a social venture competition for working professionals.
“The wave of social entrepreneurship is in the air, but there are very few enterprises such as Amul or Fab India, which have managed to have an inspiring success story,” says Shobit Mathur, one of the student coordinators from ISB.
“The aim of the iDiya Challenge is to help bring to light promising enterprises, provide them with much-needed investment and help them connect with others in the field, which will help them grow. It encourages people to come up with a breakthrough enterprise which can inspire others in the country to get involved in such initiatives, because social entrepreneurship is an untapped resource in our country,” he says.
The sixth edition of iDiya Challenge was launched recently. “We have 45 students from ISB (H) who will be coordinating this event,” says Shobit. “All of us have dreams of giving back to society, making a difference and by being part of this challenge, we get to do that. It’s a known fact that for an organisation to be sustainable, it needs to have a social angle. We are trying to groom and encourage such entrepreneurs,” says Shobit.
Some of the previous winners have made it to the finals of the Global Social Venture Competition, while others have managed to get required funding from different sources.
