‘I always come back strong’

The Geethanjali actress says that she has left all her problems behind her
Mumbai: Anjali, who has been dogged by controversies for a while now, says that things have finally fallen in place.
The actress is making a comeback with the horror comedy Geethanjali, which is releasing this Friday. “I have always been a strong woman and I face all controversies and return stronger,” she says.
On her sporadic appearances on the silver screen, she says that she is very selective and does not sign whatever comes her way. “That’s the reason I have delivered some good hits; if I had signed each and every movie, there would be no ‘Anjali’ mark on them,” she says.
Anjali also adds that she does not let her personal life affect her career. “If that was the case, I couldn’t have come back with Geethanjali.”
“The industry people and my friends know who I am and what I am. More than that, all the directors and producers know that I am very professional with my work, so it never affects my career,” she says, adding that despite the controversies surrounding her, industry people have always treated her the same.
The actress was in the news when it was reported that she had gone into hiding. When asked about that, she laughs and says, “I am here and am appearing almost every month in front of the media. So there is no question of hiding. I am seeing everybody.”
She, however, does not want to make any statements about the controversies. “I can’t react to every rumour and controversy. Instead of me talking, it’s better to focus on the persons who are starting the controversies about me,” she says.
Coming back to the film, she says that this is the first time she is attempting a new genre.
“It’s a female-centric film and its success depends on me. More than that, even before its release, it has received positive feedback and has done good business,” she says.
On acting for the first time with comedian Brahmanandam she says, “He is a humble person and a legend. Initially I was tensed, but he makes everybody comfortable. It was a great honour to work with him.”
Anjali adds that she has signed a Tamil film opposite Jayam Ravi and a Kannada film opposite Punneth Raj Kumar.
“I also have two Telugu films ready and after Geethanjali releases I will announce those films,” she says.
