Richa Chadda plays to the crowd
Mumbai: She’s not the kind who would do stereotypical roles. She’s unconventional and likes to set her own rules. Walking the ramp for designer Archana Kochhar for the cause of the girl child at the Myntra Bangalore Fashion Week Day 1, Richa Chadda opens up about her upcoming films and what she likes to do after work.
After creating a stir on the silver screen with Ram Leela, Richa is now acting in a film called Tamanchey with Nikhil Dwivedi. “It’s a teekhi love story with gunpowder, and adventure between two people who are not viewed as good by the society. My character is that of a girl called Babu, a criminal who thinks she knows everything and knows how to use her sexuality to her advantage.”
We ask her if she likes to flaunt her sexy image? “One can’t make an effort to be overtly sexy, as it spoils the whole idea. I have played sexy roles and also that of a 60-year-old in Gangs of Wasseypur. I’m now playing the role of a rich Tamil girl in the Hindi film Jiah aur Jiah. Kalki Koechlin and I swap our original cultural identities. I’m also acting in another film called Main Aur Charles. I’ve also been busy with the play Trivial Disasters that was staged in Bengaluru recently. After my show, I’m flying to Nagpur as we are staging the play there.”
