No bullet-proof shield, PM Narendra Modi also skips security cover

There were only 3 SPG commandos on the dais from where Modi delivered his speech
New Delhi: It was a break from the past when PM Narendra Modi jumped his security cordon to meet schoolchildren who had gathered on the Red Fort courtyard to hear his Independence Day speech.
After his 65-minute speech the PM, while walking towards his car, suddenly began moving towards a group of school children. The NSG commandos were caught completely unaware and rushed to him. But by that time, he was already amidst children who were jostling and pushing each other to shake his hand.
The PM also chose to deliver his speech without a bullet-proof shield posing a challenge for security agencies. There were only three SPG commandos on the dais from where Mr Modi delivered his speech. However, the entire area around the Red Fort had been put under a tight security. One could see security men on the roof of the buildings in neighbouring Chandni Chowk area.
