It’s touted as BJP’s poll plank in Uttar Pradesh but what exactly is ‘Love Jihad’?

Mumbai: ‘Love Jihad’, is an alleged activity under which young Muslim men force young girls from non-Muslim communities to convert to Islam by feigning love for them.

However, official investigations in India have found no truth behind the allegations. Young women and girls are lured to convert to Islam on the pretext of marriage and so-called love.

The allegations of love jihad in India have raised controversies and alarmed communities across the country. BJP’s ideological parent, RSS had also started a seven-day campaign urging Hindus for standing up against ‘love jihad’.

Meanwhile, BJP’s Uttar Pradesh unit has decided to take the issue of ‘love jihad’ and conversion of Hindus on its agenda.

The decision comes days after the RSS wing Dharma Jagran Manch launched a campaign against ‘love jihad’.
