Social network helps old friends meet via a ‘Frisbee Reunion’
Although school days are cherished by all, very few manage to keep in touch with their school friends as they grow up. Reasons could be several—job opportunities in another city or abroad, got married and moved away, too busy with personal career, and many more.
Teffi Titus and Anugraha Singh were not too different. However, the decided to do their little bit to stay in touch with the first few friends of their lives from school days. These two boys from St Pious X High School in Mumbai caught up on Facebook, and decided to arrange a school reunion after nine years over a Frisbee match. The Frisbee match was the only sport that caught them together during their school days.
Eight guys came out to St. Pius X that Sunday to play. Later, many more batch mates showed up and they asked to have more such meets, until they attracted almost 18 friends from their school days. After every Frisbee match, they would upload various photos, and this led to others wanting to join in the next week.
So the following Sunday, they organized another game. And this time about 18 people showed up. After the game, the guys went into the school's main building to remember their high school days, their teachers, old friends and all the crazy things they had done together.
Now they've all shared contact information and stay in touch more regularly through Facebook and a 'Piusites Reunited' Whatsapp group. They play more pick-up frisbee games when they can.
Interesting as it is, the social networking website has a got its share of negative feedback from the community. Posts and comments that could destroy someone’s personality to teenagers wasting their time on posting and chatting, the social networking platforms have seen it all.
However, this story opens up to another fact—unity. Social networking can unite friends and family from all the corners of the world. If you are on Facebook, you would agree with us. Along with various social networking platforms, Facebook and WhatsApp have helped bring the world closer. The story of Titus is one such example. If you have similar narrative, which you think you should share with us, why not write them down in the comments, and inspire others with your part of the story.
