It’s time to celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi

Actors talk about how they celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi

Ganesh Chaturthi is the festival we all love as this is my father's favourite festival. There is no shooting during this time, so we all just celebrate at home. My father brings the Ganesh idol and he makes sure that it’s an eco-friendly one. We wake up early for the morning puja. My brothers and I make no other plans. Towards the afternoon, we have lunch together and mum makes sure it’s a delicious spread and all the festival specialities are there, my mum prepares the food herself.
Shraddha Kapoor
I have been celebrating Ganesh Chaturthi since my childhood. I personally go and buy the idol from my regular shop in Juhu, Mumbai, and decorate it with my own hands. I have been doing this for a few years now. This year I am a little afraid about going for the visarjan as I am a known face now. But I will definitely go… I am sure everything will go well. My favourite sweet is the modak, which I eat to my hearts content during this festival.”
Bipasha Basu
I like to go to Lal Baugh, in Mumbai, to perform puja. Last year, I was very lucky to have performed the aarti at the Siddhivinayak temple. We have our own puja in Kolkata and I usually reach home on Ashtami day. I try to go there for at least one day and the kids volunteer for my security when I go to offer prayers.
Shilpa Shetty
I’m excited about the Ganesh Chaturthi because my son loves Ganapati. I keep the idol for one-and-a-half days. I remember, our parents would take Shamita and me for darshan at Lalbaugcha Raja in Mumbai, in the evenings. We would also visit the R.K. Studios’ Ganapati.
