Teachers' Day is Modi day: Telangana, AP school students gear up for PM's address

School children will get an opportunity to interact with the Prime Minister

Hyderabad: In a first of its kind exercise to reach out to students, most states in the country, including those ruled by non-BJP parties like Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, are pulling out all stops to ensure that schoolchildren listen to and interact with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Teachers’ Day.

Schools students in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh will get to hear the prime minister’s address on Teachers’ Day and officials have been asked to make the arrangements. Officials in Telangana are collecting data on the medium of access available across schools in all the 10 districts while unofficial instructions have also been passed to education officials in Andhra Pradesh to make arrangements by hiring TV sets so that students can listen to the PM’s telecast.

Every year, as chief minister of Gujarat, Mr Modi would deliver an address to school students on Teachers’ Day. He will continue the tradition as Prime Minister and states have been asked to make the necessary arrangements. He will also interact with select students.

“We have been asked to provide information on the medium of access available, whether we have television sets or YouTube.” said a education department official.
