Challenge accepted?

After the famous Ice Bucket Challenge, a whole new set of challenges are flooding social media
Chennai: The nomination trends for challenges are not stopping on the Web. First it was the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. Now the “Books Bucket Challenge” is the next big thing with the 20 Random Facts About Yourself Challenge already giving a tough competition in the race.
So, what is the Books Bucket Challenge? Simple. You name 10 books that have changed your life and nominate friends to write about the same. It’s lots of fun, as you get interactive about books with friends online. Even authors like Vishwaveer Singh, co-author of On a Prayer, have joined in, nominating their writer friends like Shobhaa De. As he says, “It gives us a chance to know more about readers, what they are reading.”
Avinash Matta, a social media strategist says, “What I like about the ‘Books Bucket Challenge’ is that you get to know so much more about books and you know what you’ll be reading next because it has been recommended by a friend. I have even seen people discussing about books and exchanging ideas over the Web.”
Amit Reddy, author of Who Stole My India?, says, “It’s a fantastic idea and a great way of getting people to read books that they wouldn’t have otherwise read. Although I haven’t taken the challenge yet, if nominated I would gladly do so because I love books.”
But a level of boredom is setting in as the excitement over these challenges begins to fade. Debabrata Das is a dentistry student at Army College of Dental Sciences. “Firstly, the Ice Bucket Challenge was over-hyped. Then the ‘Books Bucket Challenge’ was a welcome change. I just saw the new trend of the Movie Challenge. But I won’t be participating. Each challenge has become a cliché.”
The next time you login, some challenge will be trending through the week. So, don’t be surprised if you are nominated for the newest trending challenge.
