Usain bolt beats Yuvi at his own game
Bengaluru: The M. Chinnaswamy Stadium has witnessed many spectacular moments over the years but none would have expected ‘Lightening Bolt’ to try his hand at a game of cricket in the Garden City.
On Tuesday afternoon, the world’s fastest man turned up at the stadium to face off against one of India’s most talented cricketers, Yuvraj Singh, in a friendly cricket match.
With music blaring and the audience up on their feet cheering, the 6ft 5inch Jamaican entertained the crowd as he took on Yuvraj in a Super Six contest, with one of India’s most successful bowlers, Harbhajan Singh bowling to the duo.
In a rare moment, the crowd was delighted to see Bolt emerge victorious sending a huge hit over a distance of 100 metres to defeat the cricketer.
Though the clouds cleared, Lightning struck on the field as Bolt’s team defeated Yuvraj’s side in a four-over contest.
Yuvraj’s team put up a total of 58 in four overs. Famous for sending the ball out of the park, Yuvraj found the occasional boundary to keep the scoreboard ticking but was wary of taking singles,
knowing all too well that the fastest man in the world was in the fielding side.
Bolt’s love for the willow game is known to all, but the fact that he is such a good pace bowler was hitherto unknown.
While chasing down the total the Jamaican seemed to have a gala time as he smashed Yuvraj around the park for several boundaries.
In the last over with 20 needed for Bolt’s team, the excitement level was at its highest and two huge sixes off the last two balls saw Bolt emerge on the winning side.
To draw curtains on a fun-filled and memorable day, the 28-year-old sprinter took on Yuvraj, Harbhajan and Tare in a 100m race.
But the crowd was denied the joy of witnessing Bolt streak to the finish line as Yuvraj playfully held back the sprinter to finish on top even as it looked like Bolt was merely taking a stroll in the park.
