Kamal Haasan’s picture with vibhuti causes stir
Chennai: A picture showing Kamal Haasan seated in front of Nanguneri Vanamamalai Jeer, attired in a veshti and sporting vibhuti on his forehead, went viral on social networking media a couple of days ago. People started talking about Ulaganayagan’s atheist leanings on seeing the sacred ash without even verifying the facts about the photos posted. It was later learnt that it’s the look that Kamal Haasan sports for his movie, Papanasam, according to writer Jeyamohan, who has written the dialogues for the movie.
“I was also there at the Vanamamalai Mutt shoot. Shooting is not allowed inside the temple premises, which is under the Tamil Nadu government’s control. Some portions of the Nanguneri Vanamamalai temple’s entrance are under the control of the Mutt. We sought permission from Jeer and he kindly obliged. As a mark of respect, Kamal Haasan met him and thanked him for his co-operation and he went with the same get-up after the shoot. Being a rationalist doesn’t mean one has to be ungrateful,” Jeyamohan wrote in his blog. He also added that Kamal is learning Tirunelveli slang from Suga, another writer.
