Sania Mirza’s husband, Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malik, is in town for his team Hobart Hurricanes’ maiden appearance in the Oppo Champions League T20, against the Cape Cobras.
While the couple hasn’t met in the past few months due to work commitments, as luck would have it, Shoaib won’t get to meet Sania even in her hometown as the tennis ace is in Tokyo along with her mother and sister Anam for a tournament.
That leaves Sania’s dad, Imran Mirza, as the only person from the family in the city. When asked when he was planning on meeting his son-in-law, Imran says, “He’s currently very busy. He’s in the city for a match, not on personal business. Though we have planned a small get-together for him, it will be a family affair only.”
Shoaib will also not be staying at the Mirza residence. “It’s a rule, all the players need to stay with the team,” adds Imran.
