I don’t want to be next Honey: Badshah
Mumbai: Hindi-Punjabi rapper Badshah arrived in the Bollywood music scene with his hugely popular song Saturday Saturday in Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania. With his second song Abhi toh party shuru hui hai from Khoobsoorat topping the charts, Badshah says that he has officially arrived in Bollywood. But Badshah has yet to prove himself because so far, he is being seen as a replacement of Yo Yo Honey Singh.
Talking about the consistent comparisons he says, “My fans know and recognise my music. With time, I believe everyone will know who the original is.”
He elaborates, “Most people don’t know that Honey and I started our musical journey together. We do have a similar style of music and belong to the same genre. Just because he arrived on the scene first doesn’t mean that I am copying his music.”
“People have already stereotyped me as the next Honey Singh. But that’s not who I want to be. I am not going to restrict myself to party songs only and will show the diversity of my music,” he adds. Talking about his latest hit, he says, “Abhi toh party... is a commonly used line and I just tried to turn it into something amazing. I am sure you’ll hear it in every party this year.” With his real name Aditya, Badshah was called Prince when he was a kid. Hence it was natural that he became Badshah when he grew up. He is currently working on a few more Bollywood songs and is also trying to finish his personal project of around two years; an album titled One.
