The year 2014 kicked off with a lot of excitement regarding Apple’s new operating system (the iOS 8) and the iPhone 5s successors being launched. And the elation only grew with the hundreds of rumours and leaks about its products rolling in.
However, this year proved to be, a somewhat, disappointing one for the Apple fans, and an embarassing year for Apple. One glitch followed the other.
A long wait for the Apple Watch

Even though the Watch was unveiled at the Apple keynote on September 9th, 2014, it was only scheduled to be launched in 2015. When all the rivals and competitors are launching their smartwatch this year, we wonder why Apple delayed theirs.
Delay in the HealKit
Soon after the new iPhones and the smartwatch were unveiled, Apple announced that, due to a bug, the release of the new health and fitness application – the HealthKit, will be delayed, which was supposed to be launched along with the iOS 8.
iCloud hack
A hack exposed nude pictures of over 100 celebrities abroad, and the leak was reportedly attributed to a flaw in the iCloud service or the Find my iPhone app. Apple, however, denied any such breach in the systems.
iPhone 6 sales delayed in China
Apple’s new iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus went on sale on September 19, 2014, but for some reason, it’s availability in China was delayed.
iPhone drop test fail
Soon after the new iPhones went on sale, the social media was flooded with reviews and tests of the smartphone. In one of the drop tests, the newly launched smartphones shockingly failed.

#BendGate
Proving as a nightmare for all Apple fans and the iPhone 6 Plus users, just a few days after the new smartphone went on sale, a series of posts on the social media were noticed regarding a bend in the body of the iPhone 6 Plus while being carried in trouser pockets. And then these few posts turned into a torrent of mockery, anger and dissapointment.
The iOS 8.0.1 glitch
Apple rolled out iOS 8 updates, which instead of fixing the bugs in the iOS 8, ended up messing it further. The updates caused some serious issues in cellular connections and fingerprint sensor. However, Apple later apologized for the software glitch and launched the iOS 8.0.2 update to fix the issues caused by the iOS 8.0.1 update.

Mac OS X vulnerability
Though we all hoped that the ‘glitch tale’ would end here, but it did not. According to reports, the Mac OS X is vulnerable to ‘Bash Bug’ or ‘Shellshock’, the GNU Bash Remote Code Execution Vulnerability, that could allow an attacker to gain control over a targeted computer if exploited successfully.

After all of this, we can only hope that Apple learns it lessons and fixes things for good. Apple has been one of the leading smartphone manufacturers in the world, and we hope it continues to be one.
