Hyderabad: The city is all decked up for a cleaner Bakrid celebration this year. Masjids have been spruced up and decorated with twinkling lights making for a pretty sight. Last-minute hectic shopping for cattle and other paraphernalia is going on at a hectic pace.
Special prayers will be held in a few Masjids for peace in Kashmir and for the ones who lost their lives in the floods. This year, the religious leaders and activists have urged the devout to maintain cleanliness and hygiene in their surroundings. They have also been asked to refrain from sacrificing animals in the streets and dispose of the innards properly.

For the first time GHMC is taking all precautionary measures for collection of garbage and waste during Bakrid festival compared to that of yesteryear’s. The concerned officials have been told to arrange for collection of garbage waste within six hours after the conclusion of the festival. “We are procuring about a lakh big bags for distribution to the households for collection of garbage waste during Bakrid.” said
