‘Critics like sad films’
Hrithik Roshan-Katrina Kaif starrer has been slammed by critics
Mumbai: For everyone associated with a film it is always a tussle between box office success and critical acclaim. The just released Bang Bang continues to rake in big moolah at the ticket windows but the Hrithik Roshan-Katrina Kaif starrer has been slammed by critics.
Director Siddharth Anand doesn’t seem too bothered by that. Without mincing words, he says, “A critic’s job is to criticise. Critics like to see sad and morose films. Happy films don’t appeal to them. But I don’t make films to please them. Even 3 Idiots was given 2 stars by some critics but everyone knows how that film eventually fared.
I don’t think any film that performed well at the box office and has ever got favourable reviews from critics. Our film has crossed 100 crores and Tom Cruise (who starred in the original Knight and Day) tweeted about Bang Bang. So did the director James Mangold. Our team did not make an effort to reach out to them or to promote our film.”
