I have learnt a lot from Ranbir: Jacqueline Fernandez
Mumbai: It is safe to say that Sri Lankan beauty and Bollywood actress Jacqueline Fernandez has no starry airs. When she was in New Delhi, recently for a product launch, she mingled with her fans joyfully without any tantrums. The actress, who was last seen in the Salman Khan-starrer Kick, spoke about her beauty pageant days, upcoming Hollywood project and her co-star Ranbir Kapoor.
“As a kid I had mixed feelings about beauty. I grew up with a sister who was extremely fashionable, very much into beauty, fashion, grooming and on the other hand I also grew up with two brothers who were obviously the complete opposite. So, I kind of was in the middle. I used to be a tomboy with my brothers and a fashionista when my sister was around.
When I was part of the Miss Universe pageant, I saw this whole different world of beauty and how girls were taking it to the next level by putting themselves into crazy diets, using endless products and the kind of things that they used to sacrifice to look perfect.” Jacqueline adds, “It was an amazing as well as a scary experience. Luckily, I never went to those extremes.
However, it also taught me a very important lesson about beauty that it really is skin deep and you have got to look beyond that to live a meaningful life. I also learned that we are all beautiful human beings here in this world and we should learn to embrace ourselves.”
From world of beauty to Bollywood, she is currently shooting for Ranbir Kapoor starrer Roy. The film which also stars Arjun Rampal in the second lead is currently being shot in Langkawi. Talking about the movie she shares, “I am shooting with Ranbir who is playing Roy. I play a double role in the movie. And yes, I am superbly excited since it is the first time that audiences would get to see me in this role.
One of the characters is a director/filmmaker and the other character, however, is still a bit of a mystery. The story is based on that one mystery element about the other character. Roy, played by Ranbir, sort of unveils the mystery during the movie and that’s the beauty of it.”
Praising Ranbir, Jacqueline says, “Working with him is a phenomenal experience. Apart from, maybe, Amitabh Bachchan, I don’t think I have really felt a high level of energy coming from any actor. I learnt a lot from him and it’s been life-changing.”
Jacqueline has also bagged a lead role in a Hollywood suspense thriller titled Definition Of Fear. “I can’t say much about it right now. But I am really excited about it. We will be shooting next month. It’s going to be a new experience for me to shoot for a film other than shooting here for Bollywood.
“I want to learn and grow as an artist. As an actor I feel it will be great to work on different genres with different people in different parts of the world.” She adds, “After this project, I will be shooting for Warriors which is now called Brothers and that’s going to be another challenging role for me.
It is also my first Dharma project and I am very excited. I am working with Akshay again and for the first time with Sidharth Malhotra and Jackie Shroff. I am thrilled to work with Jackie, since we also share the same name.”
