Superstar Amitabh Bachchan turns 72
Mumbai: One of the biggest B-town superstars, Amitabh Bachchan celebrated his 72nd birthday on Saturday as fans flocked his bungalow Janak, to catch a glimpse of the star. The actor, who is known to be punctual was a bit late but quickly explained, “I started the day by visiting our old house, Pratiksha, to seek the blessings of my (late) parents, which is why it took me a while.”
Amitabh chose to wear a bright orange kurta this birthday and when quizzed he said, “My outfit is by Abu Jani-Sandeep Khosla. They are close friends and give me something new to wear on every occasion. This is their choice for my birthday.”
Another noticeable aspect was that this time there were no decorations at his bungalow.
About birthday gifts Amitabh said, “Aardhaya is my biggest gift, she hasn’t woken up as yet, I’m waiting to meet her and looking forward to see how she wishes me.”
He added, “I have been trying to reply to all messages on my phone before it gets jammed.”
The actor also recalled childhood birthday celebrations, “My father always felt that cutting a cake with candles on it isn’t an Indian tradition. We used to have a cake made of khoya.
When I was younger, I used to ask my parents and friends, ‘Kya laye ho hamare liye, jaldi do’. Now all that has changed.”
