Hyderabad: Art For Causes organised their third fundraising photography exhibition, Serendipity, on Saturday. The proceeds from sales would go to Impact, an NGO that aims to ensure that every child with cancer receives optimal treatment to live a dignified life. The exhibition saw more than 30 photographers exhibit their work.
“Last time it was a solo show, and the proceeds from the exhibition had to be divided among six NGOs. But this time, we are supporting just one NGO. It is great to see that so many photographers from Hyderabad have come together to help the cause,” says Amita Talwar, from the Art For Causes.
Each photo was priced at Rs 10,000, and on the first day around 40 out of 45 photographs were sold out. “Those who can’t afford the amount, we are asking them to contribute as much as they can to Impact directly,” adds Amita.
Senior photographer Prabhakar Kusuma says, “We usually take pictures for ourselves and then preserve it in a box. Rather than lying in the box, if these photographs could be of any use, we photographers would be happy to contribute.”
The exhibition also saw a few photographers, who were associated with a charitable photo exhibition for the first time, such as Syed Kashif Ali. He says, “Usually when there is a charitable event, a per cent of the collection goes for charity, but here, the entire proceeds would go to the NGO. This idea caught my attention.”
