Harish Rao raps Chandrababu Naidu for false ‘power’ claims
Give our legal share of 54% power, minister tells AP CM
Hyderabad: Irrigation minister T. Harish Rao on Sunday criticised AP Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu for making false claims about the power situation.
He said the AP government cannot talk selectively on the issues. While the AP Chief Minister and his officials are enjoying the water and electricity facilities provided by Telangana government in Hyderabad, the AP government has failed to supply 54 per cent share of power to Telangana, which was incorporated in AP Reorganisation Act, the minister added.
On Sunday, the minister said Mr Naidu has been making tall promises of supplying surplus power available with the state to Telangana. “We don’t want your surplus power, we want our legitimate share of 54 per cent that is not coming from AP.”
Referring to the criticism by Telangana TD leaders on the erratic power supply situation in Telangana, Mr Rao said it would be better for them not to take instructions from Mr Naidu and Mr Lokesh and stop being their slaves.
“Where were you when we agitated for Telangana for 13 years?” he asked. “Mr Chandrababu Naidu blames us for the inundation of Jurala Lower Hydel House. If that is true, then is he willing to own up his failure for the inundation of Srisailam power house when he was the CM in 1998?” he asked.
He also accused Mr Naidu of collecting huge sums as donations from the public for building the new capital for AP while spending huge amounts of money to renovate his house, camp office and Secretariat office knowing that he will have to vacate these in the next few years.
