Bengaluru: Can the decision of the Congress to nominate workers to state run boards and corporations result in injustice to genuine workers? This is the question lingering in the minds of many mid-level leaders as they felt ten top leaders in the state will try and get these slots filled with their supporters and those who lack "godfathers" but worked tirelessly would hardly get a chance.
Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, one of the leaders who had been lobbying for such a post rued that if AICC general secretary Digvijay Singh's words are implemented in the true sense then more than 1,000 hard-working workers will be recognised.
"In the Congress party or in any other party, it is very difficult to survive without a godfather or one has to attain godgather status to achieve something. Be it distribution of tickets for MLA or MP seats or selection of candidates to Rajya Sabha or MLC seats, they are decided by 10 or 15 top leaders.
Therefore, this time will not be different considering past experience," the source explained.
According to the source, while in the case of distribution of tickets to MLAs itself, one has seen how the leaders manage to get tickets for their supporters.
"Former external affairs minister, S. M. Krishna managed to get the ticket for B.L. Shankar for Peenya-Dasarahalli constituency, who hails from Chikkamagalur, while the KPCC president, managed to get the ticket for his supporter, M.C. Venugopal in Jayanagar, which is dominated by minorities, Chief Minister, Siddarmaiah managed to get the ticket for his supporter, P. Ramesh and former railway minister Jaffer Sharief was instrumental in getting the ticket for grandson Rehman Sharief.
