Happy New Year’s success makes Ajay Devgn and Aamir Khan cautious
Ajay Devgn and Shah Rukh Khan have openly locked horns time and again. Their rivalry has always been talk of the town. The intimidating figures of SRK’s Happy New Year at the box office now has Ajay on his toes. Even Aamir Khan, whose PK is up for release in December, is being extra cautious of his marketing strategy.
Ajay, on his part, admits that PR and marketing gimmicks are not his strong points. “I’m yet to master the trick of marketing my films. Honestly, I follow the age-old routine of interacting with the media and giving interviews to promote my films,” he says.
The actor, who proudly flaunts his image as being the most bankable actor at the box office, admits that he is unperturbed by the aggressive marketing strategies adopted by his rivals. Devgn, who is all set to embark on the promotional trip for his upcoming film Action Jackson, says he needs to learn a thing or two from the other actors of the Rs 100-crore club. His tongue-in-cheek remark was an obvious dig at SRK’s heavy-duty promotions of Happy New Year.
Meanwhile, Aamir has been having closed-door meetings with Raju Hirani and Vidhu Vinod Chopra to chalk out the best promotional plan for PK. “SRK believes in extravagance while Aamir is more creative. Their respective ideas have always worked for them. But there is no doubt that the success of HNY has got the big names in Bollywood to come up with bigger and better ideas to promote their films,” says a trade analyst, who didn’t wish to be named.
