Farhan Akhtar to play an ATS officer
Farhan Akhtar talks about working with Amitabh Bachchan in his upcoming film Wazir
Mumbai: Farhan Akhtar likes to don multiple hats at the same time producer, actor, singer and director. Apart from acting in his sister Zoya Akhtar’s upcoming film Dil Dhadakne Do, he is also co-producing the film and has even sung for the film.
According to reports, Javed Akhtar, their father and veteran lyricist, has penned the lyrics of the track. Talking about the film, he says, “The film is about a dysfunctional Punjabi family on a cruise trip across the Mediterranean sea. Incidentally, for this song, this is the third time that I have teamed up with composer trio Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy.”
Apart from this, the actor is currently busy shooting for his upcoming film Wazir directed by Bejoy Nambiar and is written and produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra, where he will be seen playing an Anti-Terrorist Squad cop. “Mr Bachchan plays a paralysed chess grandmaster in the movie and I will be seen playing an ATS officer,” shares Farhan.
To fit in the character, the actor has started the process of piling on some kilos. Farhan, who has always taken pride being lean and fit, will be seen in a slightly plumper frame.
Talking about his experience of sharing screenspace with Amitabh Bachchan, he says, “Initially, I was anxious to share the screen with a megastar. But as soon as we have started shooting, I realised he is a very friendly co-actor. He has a charismatic personality. Once, you start interacting with him, he makes you feel very comfortable.”
The project is turning out to be a great learning experience for Farhan. He says, “It’s a great opportunity to work with somebody like him. I’m a huge admirer of his work. The film is likely to hit the floors by the end of this year.”
In the past few years, Delhi has become an interesting backdrop for Bollywood, with storylines being increasingly set or shot here. “The film is mostly being shot in Delhi. We have plans to shoot it in the ruins of Hauz Khas, India Gate and Jama Masjid as the backdrop,” says Farhan.
